State of Mind

A group exhibition
June 5, 2022

The eccentricity of creative people has always baffled the majority. In modern times, what seem to be spontaneous artistic techniques, like that of Abstract Art, have actual psychological effects both on the artists and the viewers. An academic study at Columbia University even suggests that abstract art can literally change a person’s state of mind. According to the study, to a viewer, abstract art encourages people to think about larger concepts; away from the details, and see larger-than-life capacities.

However, for an artist, the flow is somehow paradoxical. If we see the larger concepts, to an artist, the minute elements represent both conscious and unconscious decisions. Each stroke comes from varying degrees of sensibilities and creative inclinations. Most of the time, impulses from artistic epiphany take over. Bringing to life a work of art from a place of a euphoric state of mind; birthing a masterpiece from an artist’s virtuosity and sentiments.

State of Mind, a group exhibition organized by Arte Bettina, displays the works of art by celebrated abstract artists Coeli Manese, Dennis Francisco, Ella Hipolito, Kenneth Montegrande, Lara Latosa, MargeOrgano, Raul Isidro, Rico Lascano, and Ross Capili. An assemblage of metaphorical and artistic epiphanies, ‘State of Mind’ puts forward the resplendency of the abstract and its creators.
