DISFIGURATION OF HUMANITY IS RUINS

April 6- 17, 2022

Disfigurement is often associated with the physicality of something or someone, hardly ever is it thought of as a metaphorical way to describe something that is in ruins beneath the surface. In this exhibition, the interchangeability of the two meanings of disfigurement is explored, with reference to humanity’s fallacies and solecisms.

Humanity has always been plagued by misfortune and blessed with advancement. Pliantly expanding and regressing, taking on many forms through years and millennia. It can be said that humanity is constantly on the brink of ruin and on the cusp of elevation, in disarray with different ideals and virtues. Because of these contrasts, one of the easiest ways to ponder humanity is through visual means of different disfigurations of society and human life.

Depicted in an array of figurative and non-figurative artworks, “Disfiguration of Humanity in Ruins” display and illustrate the many tendencies of humanity, be it self-destruction or self-preservation.
