A Solo Exhibition
August 20 – 31, 2022
The Bushido Code, or the “Way of the Warrior” or “Warrior Way”, is a Japanese philosophy and
decorum that remains thoroughly apropos to the Samurai attitude, behavior, and way of life.
Numerous authors and artists have built their innovative interpretations of the subject. From the
iterations of popular culture, like anime with surrounding themes of the History of Japan or
samurais, to conservative works of art that have evolved since its flourishing time in the Edo
Period, the Bushido Code is still embedded even in the modern way of living of the Japanese
and those who follow the philosophy regardless of nationality. The Bushido Code is composed
of the 8 virtues of the Samurai. All 8 codes help an individual live a chivalrous lifestyle: Justice,
Courage, Compassion, Respect, Integrity, Honor, Loyalty, and Self-Control.
